Trust Someone Else

Self-Orientation = Ego

I’ve referenced a book, The Trusted Advisor, often this month. I want to work on how I communicate with clients.

The book references high self-orientation as the most significant reason trust dies in a relationship between client and consultant.

What is high self-orientation? Well, it is a focus on yourself. That sounds a lot like ego to me.

 

I thought about the connection and realized that the concepts in the book effect more than the relationship between client and customer. It affects most relationships.

If you are feeling uncomfortable about a next step, it may be time to look at it at someone else’s position.
