People don’t leave their jobs, they leave their bosses. Sometimes it doesn’t matter what the perks are or how much you pay people, if they don’t feel like they are being heard, they are already one foot out the door. So how do you change that? Well, a cup of coffee can’t hurt.

Motivation driven by an external force (even this video) is a “rookie move.” Showing up, day in and day out is hard, but if you plan on building your skill, any skill, getting the discipline to go forward is the way to go.
It Takes Time
I’m almost 8 months into my career at Informed, and I am just getting settled.
I’ve been practicing spanish every day for the last two months and it’s just starting to make sense.
I’ve had a meditation practice for a few weeks and the time is starting to feel less like a chore.
Patience is a virtue.
Most of the time, it just takes time.
Rituals and Self Determination
I get a lot out of rituals.
After building them, they become a sense of comfort and normalcy in hectic times.
It helps me understand religion, at least in this sense: Teaching people ritual can bring them comfort. You can settle them down to listen to “the good word” when they are comfortable.
Worth stealing, because when you aren’t listening to someone else, but yourself AND you choose which rituals you follow, you become self-determined.
The self-determined move mountains.
Trust is for speed
Trust isn’t necessary to move things forward, but you won’t be moving forward efficiently.

Let’s Transform “Figure Out”
That phrase “figure out” is tempting.
The siren call to let whatever divine action happen to get you to an understanding get us all off the hook.
You and I have used it before to fill the gaps.
“I’ll figure it out.”
This is often said with no plan – again, the divine is supposed to guide us.
You and I shouldn’t be surprised when this doesn’t work out.
I propose one change to that phrase.
“I’ll figure it out” -> “I’ll figure it out by doing X until Y.”
You’ve changed a hazy phrase into something much more falsifiable.
And, you’ve got a plan of action.
Alignment And Direction
Set the direction – make a decision.
Seek alignment – communicate well.
Execute – set the pace.
What is your idea?
Lighting Rods
The outcomes we seek are lighting rods for what we ultimately are trying to accomplish.
It attracts everything.
Good or bad.
The important thing to remember is that rod acknowledges that you are in the game.
I’m 32 today.
I have some feelings – mostly, normal. Waking up to well wishes have made me happy, hearing people are in good spirits always raises my own. This has come to mean more than gifts to me.
I’m come into today with a healthy body and no crisis.
And for that much I am grateful. A great place to start the thirty second trip.
If you want to get me a gift, I appreciate it. Don’t.
Take some of that money and apply it to these causes, they need it more than I:
