Begin with Boundaries

Boundaries are all about risk mitigation

When we talk about limits, the first thing that may pop into your head is that it caps us.

In application, however, more often than not, boundaries help with damage control. They save us from ourselves.

That is why when we learn; it is imperative that we use boundaries to mitigate the risk that we may meet. Having too much too fast is a recipe for disaster.

Pledge Two – Another Beginning

Setting things down on paper is pretty difficult for me.  You can’t avoid what you wrote if it is staring you in the face. The promise cannot be missed.

My last declaration was to make each blog post three sentences. It was something I could do without too much thought – nothing more of three minutes of time is all I needed to crank something out. Quality didn’t matter, just being consistent.

I feel like through those 8 weeks, I finally built the habit of throwing things on this blog. Better or worse, I have gotten it done.

Now I want to make a new pledge. I plan on taking at least 10 minutes on each post with edits. I will spend at least 2 months making the proper meta data, tweet links, and other things. I pledge to make the blog for fully formed.

If this as any odd side effects I am sure they will end up here :-).

Social Media Curation

One of the keys to the future is Social Media curation.

It is often neglected, passed along to the interns, shuttled behind closed doors. It gets left behind, along with its valuable lessons and insights

For many creatives, there is a vision of “keeping it real”.” My art will get me discovered.”

It’s odd, but a lot of things are left by the wayside in the name of “paying dues”. You get no bonus points for making things hard on yourself.

It just leaves you wondering why you didn’t put things to work in the first place.

Building a tribe happens at the smaller levels. Social media is perfect for that these days, because we all are not looking in the same places, except if they happen to be Twitter, Facebook, or Youtube.

Like many other things, there will be bumps bruises and problems along the way. But the payoff could be tremendous.

Even if it isn’t, you have gotten another tool to make this all work. And you have gained to skill to sell it to someone who could use it.
