Our brains doesn’t see the world as it is. That would be extremely labor intensive, since we receive upwards of a trillion signals every moment.
Instead – our brain uses a model of how it thinks we should be and we operate at that level. It helps us stay sane.
Changing this initial model is hard. It’s everything you’ve experienced in the world so far, but consciously and subconsciously.
I mention this for two reasons:
We don’t see everything. Collaboration is amazing because it can force new impulses to break through the model if we expend the energy needed for curiosity.
We aren’t objective. We’ve been swayed far before we make any decision. When you decide, try to remember that.
